Pharmacological action of
Argosulfan cream – topical antibacterial drug that helps heal wounds (burn, trophic, purulent, etc.), provides effective protection of wounds from infection, relieves pain and burning sensation in the wound, reduces treatment time and preparation time wounds to a skin transplant, in many cases leads to an improvement, eliminating the need for transplantation.
Sulfanilamide – sulfathiazole, which is part of the cream, has a wide spectrum of antibacterial bacteriostatic action against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.
The mechanism of the antimicrobial effect of sulfathiazole – inhibition of growth and reproduction of microbes – is associated with competitive antagonism with PABA and inhibition of dihydropteroate synthetase, which leads to disruption of the synthesis of dihydrofolic acid and, ultimately, its active metabolite, tetrahydrofolic acid and microbic acid, necessary for the synthesis of .
The silver ions present in the preparation enhance the antibacterial effect of sulfonamide several tens of times â they inhibit the growth and division of bacteria by binding to microbial cell DNA. Moreover, silver ions weaken the sensitizing properties of sulfonamide.
Thanks to the hydrophilic base of the cream, which has an optimal pH and contains a large amount of water, the wound has a painkiller and moisturizer, which contributes to good tolerance, facilitation and acceleration of wound healing.
Burns of various degrees, of any nature (thermal, solar, chemical, electric shock, radiation, etc.), frostbite.
Pressure ulcers, trophic ulcers of the lower leg of various origins (including chronic venous insufficiency, obliterating endarteritis, circulatory disorders in diabetes mellitus, erysipelas, etc.).
Purulent wounds, minor household injuries (cuts, abrasions).
Infected dermatitis, simple contact dermatitis, complicated impetigo, microbial eczema, streptostaphyloderma.
Hypersensitivity (including to other sulfonamides).
Congenital deficiency of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase.
Early childhood (newborns and infants up to 2 months, premature babies) due to the risk of developing nuclear jaundice.
Not recommended for use during pregnancy.
During lactation, the drug can be prescribed only if the burn surface does not exceed 20% of the body surface, and the therapeutic benefit for the mother is greater than the possible risk for the child.
Use during pregnancy and lactation

1 g cream contains:
sulfathiazole silver salt 20 mg.
Base: up to 1 g.
sodium lauryl sulfate
propylhydroxybenzoate srdlkrfphydro sodium hydroxybenzoic acid
Dosage and administration
Outwardly, both in an open way and in the form of occlusive dressings.
After cleansing and surgical treatment, a preparation with a thickness of 2-3 mm 2-3 times a day is applied to the wound under sterile conditions. During treatment, the entire wound should be covered with cream. If part of the wound opens, you must additionally apply the cream. Applying an occlusive dressing is possible, but is not required.
Cream is applied until the wound is completely healed or until the skin is transplanted. If the drug is used on infected wounds, exudate may appear.
Before applying the cream, it is necessary to wash the wound with an antiseptic.
The maximum daily dose is 25 g. The maximum duration of treatment is 60 days.
Skin and allergic reactions.
Sometimes irritation is possible, manifested by burning at the place of application of the cream.
With prolonged use, blood changes characteristic of systemic sulfonamides (eg leukopenia), desquamative dermatitis may develop.
Not recommended for use with other topical medicines.
Folic acid and its structural counterparts (eg procaine) are able to attenuate the antimicrobial action of sulfathiazole.
Overdose has not been reported.
At a temperature not exceeding 25 ° C (do not freeze).
Keep out of the reach of children.
