Fezam is a combined preparation with a pronounced antihypoxic, nootropic and vasodilating effect.
Piracetam is a nootropic. It activates metabolic processes in the brain by enhancing energy and protein metabolism, accelerate the utilization of glucose by cells and increase their resistance to hypoxia. Improves interneuronal transmission in the central nervous system and regional blood flow in the ischemic zone.
Cinnarizine is a calcium channel blocker. It inhibits the entry of calcium ions into cells and reduces their content in the plasma membrane depot. Reduces the tone of the smooth muscles of the arterioles, reduces their response to biogenic vasoconstrictors (adrenaline, norepinephrine, dopamine, angiotensin, vasopressin). It has a vasodilating effect (especially in relation to cerebral vessels, enhancing the antihypoxic effect of piracetam), without having a significant effect on blood pressure. It exhibits moderate antihistamine activity, reduces the excitability of the vestibular apparatus, and increases the tone of the sympathetic nervous system. Increases the elasticity of erythrocyte membranes, their ability to deform, lowers blood viscosity.
– cerebrovascular insufficiency (atherosclerosis of the cerebral vessels, recovery period of ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, after craniocerebral trauma, encephalopathy of various origins)
– diseases of the central nervous system, accompanied by decreased attention, memory impairment moods)
– psycho-organic syndrome with a predominance of asthenia and adynamia symptoms
– asthenic syndrome
– Meniere’s syndrome
– prevention of kinetoses
– prevention of migraine
– lag of intellectual development in children.
– severe liver dysfunction
– severe renal dysfunction
– children under 5
– hypersensitivity to the drug.
Caution is advised to prescribe a drug for Parkinson’s disease.
The results of clinical studies have established that the drug Fezam helps increase visual acuity, improves the functional state of the retina and hemodynamics of the eye. An increase in blood flow in the arteries of the eye after a course of taking Fezam indicates an improvement in blood supply to the membranes of the eye. It is recommended to use the drug Fezam in the treatment of patients with degenerative diseases of the retina (in particular with age-related macular degeneration).
The combination of the vasoactive (cinnarizine) and metabolic (piracetam) components of the Fezam drug made it possible to use the drug in a number of clinical studies to increase the effectiveness of existing methods for treating functional and organic lesions of the optic-nervous apparatus of the eyes in children and to stabilize the achieved visual functions. Recommendations for the use of the drug Fezam in pediatric practice (as part of complex therapy) are: partial atrophy of the optic nerve of various genesis myopia of moderate and high degree post-traumatic, myopic and hereditary retinal dystrophy of amblyopia of various origins (including in combination with organic lesions of the central departments of the visual analyzer).
In renal failure of mild to moderate severity (CC less than 60 ml / min), the therapeutic dose should be reduced or the interval between doses of the drug should be increased.
In patients with impaired liver function, it is necessary to control the content of liver enzymes.
Avoid drinking alcohol while taking Fezam.
The drug Fezam should be carefully prescribed with increased intraocular pressure.
The drug can cause a positive reaction in athletes during the doping test, and it is also possible to change the results of determination of radioactive iodine (dyes in the capsule shell contain iodine).
Influence on the ability to drive vehicles and operate machinery
When taking the drug, Fezam should be careful when driving vehicles and working with machinery and equipment.
1 capsule contains piracetam – 400 mg, cinnarizine – 25 mg
excipients: lactose, colloidal silicon dioxide, magnesium stearate
Shell composition: titanium dioxide, elatin.
Dosing and Administration
Adults prescribe 1-2 caps. 3 times / day for 1-3 months, depending on the severity of the disease. The course of treatment is 2-3 times a year.
Children over 5 years of age are prescribed 1-2 caps. 1-2 times / day (no more than 3 months).
Possible: dyspepsia, headache, sleep disturbances.
Rarely: allergic reaction in the form of a skin rash.
With simultaneous use with Fezam, it is possible to increase the sedative effect of drugs that depress the central nervous system, as well as ethanol, nootropic and antihypertensive drugs.
With the simultaneous use of vasodilators enhance the effect of Phezam.
Fezam improves tolerance to antipsychotic drugs and tricyclic antidepressants.
Fesam® overdose is well tolerated by patients, with no serious side effects requiring the drug to be discontinued.
Abdominal pain may occur in case of overdose.
Treatment is symptomatic, which may include hemodialysis. It is necessary to wash the stomach, cause vomiting. There is no specific antidote.
