Antibacterial drug of the fluoroquinolone group.
Enrofloxacin, which is part of the drug, a derivative of quinolocarboxylic acid, belongs to fluoroquinolones of the 3rd generation, has a wide spectrum of antibacterial action. Active against most gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms, including Escherichia coli, Salmonella spp., Enterobacter spp., Proteus mirabilis, Proteus vulgaris, Haemophilus spp., Klebsiella spp., Pasteurella multocida, Pseudomonas aerugenosa, Bordetella spp., Campylobacter spp., Erysipelothrix spp., Corynebacterium spp., Staphylococppppppppoccus cppppoccus ., Fusobacterium spp., Bacteroides spp., As well as Mycoplasma spp.
Enrofloxacin inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase, disrupts DNA synthesis, the growth and division of bacteria causes pronounced morphological changes (including in the cell wall and membranes), which leads to rapid death of the bacterial cell. It acts bactericidal on gram-negative microorganisms during dormancy and division, on gram-positive microorganisms in the period of division.
When i / m is administered, enrofloxacin is rapidly absorbed into the bloodstream and penetrates almost all organs and tissues, reaching a maximum concentration in 0.5-1 h after administration. The therapeutic concentration of enrofloxacin after a single injection is maintained in the body for 24 hours. Enrofloxacin is excreted from the body mainly in an unchanged form and partly in the form of a metabolite – ciprofloxacin, mainly with urine, in lactating animals – also with milk.
According to the degree of exposure to the body, Enrofloxacin 50 injection is classified as a moderately hazardous substance (hazard class 3 according to GOST 12.1.007-76).
Used in calves, lambs, pigs, dogs and cats for the treatment of diseases, causative agents of which are sensitive to fluoroquinolones, including: – bronchopneumonia
– enzootic pneumonia
– atrophic mast disease
infections – secondary infections in viral diseases.
– Individual increased sensitivity of the animal to fluoroquinolones (including a history of).
It is forbidden to use: – for dairy animals, due to the release of enrofloxacin with
milk – to animals with significant developmental disorders of the cartilage tissue
– for damage to the nervous system, accompanied by seizures of
– to puppies and kittens in the first year of life before the end of their growth period
– to females pregnancy.
enrofloxacin 50 mg
Excipients: sodium bisulfite – 0.25 mg, potassium hydroxide – 9 mg, ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid – 0.2 ml, water d / u – up to 1 ml.
Dosage and administration
Enrofloxacin 50 solution for injection is used 1 time / day for calves, lambs, dogs and cats s / c, pigs IM in the following doses: – calves, lambs and pigs – 1 ml per 20 kg of animal weight (2. 5 mg enrofloxacin per 1 kg of animal weight) for 3-5 days to sows with metritis-mastitis-agalactia syndrome – for 1-2 days
– for dogs and cats – 1 ml per 10 kg of animal weight (5 mg of enrofloxacin per 1 kg animal mass) for 5 days, for chronic and severe diseases – up to 10 days
Due to a possible pain reaction, the drug should not be administered to large animals in a volume of more than 5 ml and small animals in a volume of more than 2.5 ml in one place.
If there is no improvement in the clinical condition after using the drug for 3-5 days, it is recommended to re-test the sensitivity of microorganisms isolated from the sick animal to fluoroquinolones or replace Enrofloxacin 50 injection for another antibacterial agent.
Peculiarities of the action of the drug during the first administration of the drug and during its withdrawal has not been established.
Avoid skipping the next dose of the drug, as this may lead to a decrease in therapeutic efficacy. If one dose is missed, the use of the drug is resumed as soon as possible in the same dosage and in the same way.
When using Enrofloxacin 50 injection, according to the instructions, side effects and complications are usually not observed. In the event of allergic reactions, the use of the drug is stopped and antihistamines and symptomatic drugs are prescribed to the animal.
In case of drug overdose, the animal may experience a decrease in appetite, depression, vomiting, diarrhea. In this case, Enrofloxacin 50 injection should be discontinued and symptomatic treatment should be carried out.
